This is the usual cycle of game developers. There are usually layoffs after a project, even if it's successful.
It's why I never chose game development as a career.
That's true, but in this case, I would have naively thought they would immediately start work on Battlefield 7.
Contractors same deal. Work on some big company moonshot style thing and just as it's all in the can, you're let go.
